Ahmedabad Medical School was created in 1871 and it became affiliated with the Civil Hospital in the city of Ahmedabad. The School had humble beginnings, starting with 14 students who pursued hospital assistant training. In 1879, Sir Byramjee Jeejeebhoy donated Rs.20,000/- and the school was renamed after him as B. J. Medical School. The school grew and became affiliated with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Bombay in 1917. By 1946, the school obtained affiliation with Bombay University and then achieved higher status for itself to become B.J. Medical College, providing diplomas for L.C.P.S.In 1951, The college was affiliated to Gujarat University for its undergraduate courses.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation was only the second Municipal Corporation – next to Mumbai to establish a medical college of its own. From its humble beginning, it has now blossomed into one of the most advanced and prestigious medical colleges in the country to-day. The objective of the college is not only to produce a good doctor but good citizen with empathy for poor patients.

AMC Medical Education Trust Medical College is founded in 2009 with an annual intake of 150 students. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation was next to Mumbai Municipal Corporation to establish Smt.N.H.L.Municipal Medical College of its own in1963. From this humble beginning, it has now blossomed into another medical college at LG Hospital Campus to grow as one of the most advanced and prestigious medical colleges in the country. The Medical College is affiliated to Gujarat University and MCI has granted permission to run the M.B.B.S. course. At present 926 students are persuing their graduation and every year 280 students get admission in different post graduation course at our institute. The objective of the college is not only to produce a good doctor but good citizen with empathy for poor patients.

GMERS Medical College Sola established under the Gujarat Medical Education & Research Society, Ahmedabad is affiliated to Gujarat University. It is recognized by Government of India and Medical Council of India to admit 200 students.GMERS Medical College Sola, Ahmedabad was inaugurated by the Honorable Health Minister of Gujarat in 2009. The attached Civil Hospital Sola was inaugurated in 1986 and started providing general medical care with post partum services. Over the period hospital gradually got sanctioned into different specialties.
